Hello from Nanaimo!
Its mid-summer already and SERGE & SEW has been hopping!
We
celebrated our 20th Birthday in July with a Birthday Party & Sale. Barb
Dickie was the lucky winner of our Birthday Basket.
Then there was the Border Creek Crossing Mystery Quilt
Reveal Party, with about 25 of the 40+ mystery quilts displayed in
the shop. It is hard to believe that they were all created from the same
pattern! You can see some of these quilts on our website www.sergesew.com
or at www.bordercreekstation.com. This Mystery Quilt
was so popular that we are going to do another one starting in the November.
Diana Slater won a free registration in the
next mystery. If you are interested, sign up soon - there are already have
lots of participants!
Next on the calendar was two weeks of "Summer School" mini courses (small projects & demos), which were enjoyed, by students & teachers alike! Thanks to all who participated, especially our guest teachers, Florence Dorscheid, Margaret Ham and Maureen Smith.
We also started a four month Christmas Block of the Month quilt from BEE CREATIVE Patterns. This is a beautiful quilt, which will be ready for you to display proudly at Christmas. There is still time to join in. You can choose either a generous lap or queen size.
Then
it was Bathtub Week & we celebrated with another sale! 
Our next big event is paper-piecing guru Judy Niemeyer's Workshop in August. Actually, there are two separate workshops - the three-day workshop (which has been filled for many months) and a one-day one on Monday, August 11, which still has a few spaces open.
This week we have been unpacking! The boxes are filled with lots & lots of panels, including the very popular fabric book panels, panels for babies & kids, Halloween & autumn. There are bolts of new fabrics, too; one especially nice one has a Canadian Outdoor theme, with totem poles & realistic animals! We also received a nice selection of Cotton Sateen and many great new books!
Christmas fabric arrived early in July and is very popular, especially the Nancy Halvorsen line. Remember to buy your Christmas prints soon, as the selection will be depleted quickly!
